Product overview
A Y/T-type strainer designed so the screen is purged in place. A blowdown valve on the cap reverses flow through the mesh and carries debris out to drain while the line stays in service.
The problem it solves
A choked strainer normally means isolating the line, cooling it, opening the cap and lifting out the screen. On a continuous process that is a planned shutdown, and the cost is measured in lost throughput rather than in the price of the strainer.
Working principle
Process flow enters the body and passes outward through the screen. Opening the blowdown valve creates a pressure differential that reverses flow across the mesh, lifting trapped scale and mill debris off the screen and discharging it through the drain port.
